Controversy Surrounding Atishi Marlena & Swati Maliwal
Atishi Marlena, a senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was recently appointed as the next Chief Minister of Delhi, succeeding Arvind Kejriwal. Her appointment has sparked criticism, especially from AAP's own Rajya Sabha MP, Swati Maliwal.
Maliwal alleged that Atishi’s family had filed mercy petitions on behalf of Afzal Guru, the terrorist convicted for the 2001 Parliament attack. Maliwal claimed that this raises concerns about Delhi's security, especially under Atishi’s leadership.
Atishi, known for her significant contributions to Delhi’s education reforms, has not responded to Maliwal's accusations. Despite the internal criticism, Atishi continues to enjoy broad support within AAP, and her appointment marks a significant shift in Delhi's political leadership.
