Human Resources Manager

The HR Manager will provide both leadership and administration in the Recruitment and Development of KanEquip employees, as well as serve as a primary point of contact for employees for any HR issues and questions.  Areas of responsibility include managing strategies, processes, and tools for employment recruitment and employment training and development, leading management development initiatives, maintaining and publishing organizational charts and HR metrics, employee programs, and exit interviews.  He/she will also be responsible for ensuring KanEquip personnel are trained and compliant with company safety programs, ensuring all reporting and audits are handled.  The position will include leading change management initiatives including new tools and processes in these areas, and the development and enforcement of company HR policies, values, and culture.

Job Responsibilities (ranked in significance)

  • HIRING & CULTURE ALIGNMENT SUPPORT:  Provides support and direction to employees and company managers to ensure that effective and legal Hiring and culture management practices are utilized consistently throughout the company

Works in coordination with the HR Manager to ensure a timely and effective hiring process (including quick responses to candidates)

Provides managers with direction and support in the hiring and interviewing process (prescreening, interviewing, job-fit, top-choice)

Assists managers with activities to strengthen alignment with KanEquip values/culture

Plans and coordinates activities to strengthen KanEquip culture with GM

  • Performance Management Process: Provide direction and support for high quality and effective formal employees evaluations/reviews, as well as informal feedback.

Work with identified managers to ensure high quality and effective performance evaluations are written.

Ensures timely and relevant communications to all staff (newsletters, etc.)

Provide direction and support for managers and employees in the delivery of performance evaluations.

Support managers and supervisors by tracking, monitoring and communicating follow-up dates for all O.D. plans/tools (reviews, Gap action plans, development plans, POPS follow-up.)

  • Performance Coach:  Effectively develops select employees for growth and stability.

Provides effective direction and support to the HR staff to ensure high performance and accomplishment of department goals.

Provides coaching for Store and Department managers for either reduction of identified gaps or further improvement and development of their performance in that job; including through direct involvement when appropriate.

Accurately diagnose performance issues through discussion and use of relevant KanEquip O.D. tools and processes (PROdaptive, DISC/GPS...)

Introduce appropriate interventions (Gaps, training, coaching, etc.) to ensure achievement of employee and group development goals.

  • HR Administration: Effectively conducts all HR administrative work in a timely manner in order to maintain compliance with all policies, regulations and laws

Establish and maintain effective HR processes and practices that comply with all policy and legal rules and regulations

Ensures organizational HR policies and practices are consistently applied 

Maintains accurate and up-to-date HR files

Ensures all employees have up-to-date KRA documents

Conducts new employee orientation/training

  • HR Staff Management: Manages, develops and sustains a high level of employee performance and morale - that results in a fulfilling and productive work environment

Assures the HR department is properly staffed by recruiting, hiring and promoting the right people for the right positions
 
Makes sure employees are being effectively managed and coached on a daily basis to maximize productivity and morale
 
Optimizes employee performance by making sure ongoing evaluations, recognition, rewards and discipline/corrective-management produce expected results
 

  • HR Administrative Support: Successfully provides administrative support for identified executives/managers in ways that enhance their productivity

Effectively processes agreed upon HR communications (email, phone, company communications...)

Provides other HR administrative support as requested

  • Communications:  Excellent verbal and written communication. Ensures good communication with other all locations and employees, traveling to remote locations as needed.  Maintain excellent communication with General Manager and Accounting department regarding payroll and legal concerns.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Human Resources or Organizational Effectiveness
  • Minimum 3 years well rounded experience in Human Resource management
  • PHR / SPRH certification attained or in process - preferred
  • Solid analytical, business planning, financial, and problem-solving skills.  Detail-oriented and results-driven.
  • Change Management expertise, specifically managing change within a large, matrix organization.
  • Ability to set consistent HR direction and practices across multiple functions and locations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Expertise with computer systems and software, including MS office and internet-based applications.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to travel to all locations, company meetings, and training events as needed
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle status, with current driver's license, and ability to operate motor vehicle.
